Overview
The ASQ Raleigh Section offers the Stephanie L. Spencer Ploeger – ASQ Raleigh Scholarship to support students who are passionate about quality and its application in their academic and professional lives. This scholarship is $1,000 annually and is awarded to eligible students enrolled in accredited colleges or universities.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a course of study applicable to the Quality Community at an accredited institution.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (official transcript required).
- Be enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Be an ASQ Raleigh Section member or sponsored by a current member.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
- Completed application form.
- Official transcript showing completed coursework and GPA.
- Proof of ASQ Raleigh Chapter membership or sponsorship.
- Essay (up to 1000 words) on ‘How quality relates to your chosen profession or major’.
- Responses to short answer questions about your degree, career goals, and experiences.
- Description of community service activities and estimated hours in the past 12 months.
Selection Criteria
Scholarship recipients are selected based on the following criteria:
- Application completeness and quality (25 points).
- Essay content and relevance (25 points).
- Community service involvement (25 points).
- Academic achievement (25 points).
Preference is given to applicants with higher GPAs, compelling essays, and demonstrated contributions to quality-related activities.
Recipient Commitments
If selected, recipients are expected to:
- Attend an ASQ Raleigh Section event to accept the scholarship.
- Participate in at least one ASQ Raleigh Section meeting during the award year.
- Be available for other ASQ-related events throughout the year.

- Share specific examples of how you’ve applied quality concepts in school or work. – Emphasize your community service and leadership roles.
- Ask a current ASQ Raleigh member to sponsor your application if you’re not a member.
